About

Theme based Ideas in "MSME Idea Hackathon 2.0" are being invited from Students, Innovators, and MSMEs from all over India under the scheme of the Office of Development Commissioner – Incubation Component of MSME Innovative Scheme under the umbrella of MSME Champions Scheme.

Objectives

• To promote all forms of innovations in the complete value chain from developing ideas into innovative applications through incubation and design interventions.
• To provide appropriate facilities and support for the development of concepts to market, design competitiveness, and protection & commercialization of Intellectual Property in the MSME sector.
• To promote a culture of innovation and creative problem solving through knowledge sharing and collaboration amongst industry, academia, government institutions, and research laboratories.
• To serve as a connecting link between industrial and academic leaders and innovators to encourage new product development and hand-holding.
• To focus on developing affordable, commercially viable, and sustainable innovations that benefit a large number of people.

Host Institutes

The Host Institutions (HI) approved for the scheme will be supported by the Office of DC-MSME. The selected ideas will receive funding support of up to ₹15 lakhs per approved idea through their chosen Host Institute.

Components of the Scheme

MSME Innovative Scheme consists of three components:

• Incubation
• Design
• IPR

Incubation

How to Apply

• Applicants shall submit each idea to only one Host Institution (HI).
• Ideas submitted in earlier Hackathons should not be submitted again.
• Student category applicants must upload a valid student ID for the academic year 2022–23.
• Applicants should thoroughly read the MSME Innovative Scheme Guidelines and FAQs before submitting their ideas.
• Selected incubatees shall develop their ideas at the chosen Host Institution under the mentorship appointed by the HI.

Process Flow of Approval

• Idea submission on the portal.
• First-stage screening at the Host Institution.
• Forwarding of shortlisted ideas.
• Evaluation and selection by the Domain Expert Selection Committee (DESC).
• Recommendation of selected ideas.
• Approval for financial assistance by the Project Monitoring and Advisory Committee (PMAC).

Fund Support

Financial support of up to ₹15 lakh is provided to the Host Institution for nurturing an idea. The assistance is released in two installments of 70% and 30%.

Assistance / Support

• Incubatees receive support on technology, innovation, mentoring, and plant & machinery required for nurturing the idea.
• If essential machinery is unavailable at the HI/BI, incubatees may use facilities elsewhere on a pay-per-use basis through the HI/BI.

Design

Objectives

• To bring the Indian manufacturing sector and the design fraternity onto a common platform for product development and innovation.
• To provide MSMEs with expert advice for developing new products and enhancing existing product portfolios.

Financial Assistance

• Support for design interventions, consultancy, and prototype development.
• Government support of up to 75% (Micro) and 60% (Small & Medium) of project cost, subject to a maximum of ₹40 lakhs.
• Student design projects are eligible for assistance up to ₹2.5 lakhs with 75% Government support.

IPR

Activities / Benefits

• Support for Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) activities.
• Setting up of IP Facilitation Centres for MSMEs.
